From amateur football to the Champions League within a year.

My name is Rick. I'm 22, based in the Netherlands.

Football has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up playing at different youth academies, always close to the game, always wanting to be part of it in some way. When playing stopped being the path forward, I needed to find another way in. That way in was photography.

How it started

In 2025 I bought my first camera and started showing up at amateur matches. Unpaid, no expectations, just to see if I actually loved it. I did. There was something about being close to the field, capturing the moments, the emotion, the details most people miss from the stands, that felt right immediately. It reminded me of why I loved football in the first place.

From there I just kept going. One match led to another, one connection led to the next. I built my portfolio from the ground up, kept shooting, kept improving, and slowly the opportunities started coming.

The work

Within a year I went from shooting amateur football to standing pitchside at matches I used to only watch on TV. I've had the privilege of shooting for FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

I've worked directly with players across Europe, including Sidny Lopes Cabral of Benfica, Samuel Ignacio of Dortmund, St. Juste of Feyenoord and Driouech of PSV, and produced content for the official media team of Paris Saint-Germain.

None of it happened overnight. It happened because I kept showing up.

Why I make content

When I was starting out, I couldn't find the information I was looking for. How do you get access? How do you approach clubs? How do you actually edit a football photo? It took me a long time to figure things out on my own. So once I started building an audience, I made it a point to share what I know, honestly and without holding back. Educational content, behind the scenes, gear breakdowns, the reality of how this industry works.

If you're just getting started and trying to find your way in, this is for you.

The gear

I shoot on a Sony A1 Mark II and a Sony A7 IV, paired with a Sony 70–200mm f/2.8 G Master II and a 24–70mm f/2.8 G Master II. Every photo gets edited in Adobe Lightroom, using the exact presets you can find in my shop.

Most people watch the game from the stands. I needed to be closer. That's still what drives me every single matchday.
